The two happiest days in a boat owner’s life are the day they buy the boat and the day they sell it. Or so the saying goes. If that’s true, this was a happy day in our life.
Catana 472
We took delivery of our Catana 472 this week in the marina at La Cruz de Huaunacaxtle, Mexico. I flew down to get started on the process of settling in and getting oriented. Pam followed about a week later. That gave me time to organize things and have the boat thoroughly cleaned.
It feels big, intimidating, and complicated. There is much to learn. This week we’ll focus on getting to know the various systems and finding our way around the local area. Our friend and sailing coach (and fellow Catana 472 owner) Eric will fly down next week, and we’ll start learning to sail and operate this fantastic beast!
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle
Meanwhile, we’ve made the rounds of La Cruz and nearby Bucerias, including the famous La Cruz Sunday Market, which wraps around the entire marina and is HUGE. Food, music, clothing, art, crafts, and great people-watching. Very much worth the trip to La Cruz if you are ever here.
